DJ Sophia Lin

At the risk of sounding like a male chauvinist I'll start by saying that most female DJs can't really perform the primary function of their title. I think that goes hand in hand with the sentiment that everyone's a DJ.

That being said, it couldn't be further from the truth with Sophia. Not only is she, for lack of a more refined term, really hot but she's just as talented. Really. I've seen a lot of DJ's over the years and barring the headliners most don't live up to their hype. She had skill, not just on the decks, but also in terms of her song selection. 

What surprised me the most though was how easy she was to work with. No primadonna bullshit and the best attitude! God she was super sweet to everyone too.

I'll stop gushing now.

I was born in the 80s but that doesn't mean I was cognizant of that decades cultural peculiarities. The obsession with sailing as a status symbol eludes me but that was indeed Club La Vela's backyard at one time.

Anticipatory Events Pt. 2

Things are picking up! We're all working around the clock to ensure everything is ready for Spring Break. Looking at the beach you can see the pavilions being built; commercial preparations for the impending horde of impressionable young minds. On the home front we're painting, re-carpeting, programming lights, building video content, hammering out scheduling details, and otherwise putting the finishing touches on nine theme rooms and a pool deck.

Throwback Thursday

The shot above is from around 1992 with 'The Party Shark' Steve Joiner as the MC. At least that was the consensus when passed around the office for stylistic dating. If that isn't far enough back this one's from 1986. Flashdance anyone?

Over the next week I'll see if I can dig up and scan some more shots to post a legitimate gallery of historic content next week. When Spring Break kicks off I'll keep an eye out for some Then & Now shots to give a sense of just how much things change over the years!
